Union Clinical Laboratory started with offering special services of stone analysis using FTIR in 1970s, which was the same era when Taiwan Jade became famous. To celebrate our precious Taiwan gemstones, the colors blue, green and rose color was mounted onto our UCL logo.
Taiwan Blue Chalcedony
Blue chalcedony is a special local gemstone in Taiwan. Taiwan blue chalcedony owes beauty and popularity to its vivid blue, green or blue color, and its value is the highest among the jade that produced in Taiwan. It also outshines others in the world market. Taiwan blue chalcedony usually distributes among the coast mountains of eastern Taiwan, the north range from Fongbin Village of Hualien County, and the south range to Dulan Village of Taidong County, and its occurrence belongs to hydrothermal deposit.
Taiwan Nephrite, the Jade of Hualien and Treasure of Taiwan
Taiwan Jade, belong to the category of “Flashing Jade”, composed of fibrously interweaves structure. Taiwan Jade can be classified by the color of greenish or jasper. “Cat Eye Jade” has a light gathering effect after grinding. Taiwan jade mainly comes from the Fengtian area in Hualien Shoufeng Township. Three thousand years ago, this area was a center of the pre-historic jade culture of Taiwan. Taiwanese archaeologists have discovered massive hordes of jade in Peinan, confirmed that these jade items were made in the Fengtian area in the late Neolithic Period.
Taiwan Rhodonite, the Rose Stone in Hualien
The Rose Stone is not only famous for its colorful color, but also the artistic conceptions. The unique aspect of the rhodonite in Hualien is that it shows fantastic colors and lines in its veining, namely the inky lines caused by oxidation inside the stone. Additionally, the rhodonite in Hualien occurs with other stones, and shows richer colors and patterns. After cutting, it can provide a never-ending variety of images. The Rose Stone is found only in the Eastern Taiwan. Land of origin is Li-Wu stream, Mu-Gua stream of Hualien.
